The Doctrines of
The Independent Holiness Movement |
- GOD FIRST
Theocracy – governed by the direct guidance of God
- THE FALL – Romans 3:10-23, Ephesians 1:7
The utter ruin of the whole human race, the total depravity of the human heart with no means of restoration but through the Atonement
- THE ATONEMENT – 1Peter 1:18-21, Hebrews 9:22-28, 1John 1:7
The precious blood of the Lord Jesus Christ providing salvation for all infants in their innocency, and salvation from sin, both actual and original by means of two definite works of grace, forgiveness for actual and committed sins and cleansing from heart sin.
- REPENTANCE – Isaiah 55:7, Luke 13:3, Acts 5:31
This includes conviction of sin, sorrow for sin, confession of sin, forsaking of sin and restitution. It is the standing ground for justification through faith in Jesus Christ.
- REGENERATION – John 3:3, 1John 3:9, Romans 4:25, Romans 5:1
Justification and the new birth: The sinner is justified in the eyes of God through faith in the Atonement. The new birth is the life of Jesus Christ imparted in the dead soul, thus he is made over anew by the Spirit of God.
- HOLINESS – Romans 12:1-2, 1Thessalonians 5:23-24, Romans 6:5-23, Titus 2:14, Romans 6:6, Matthew 3:11, John 1:33
This includes consecration and sanctification. Consecration is man’s part, sanctification is God’s part.
CONSECRATION is giving up to God the whole life, placing all on the altar, and trusting for the “old man” to be utterly destroyed. This is the negative side of holiness.
ENTIRE SANCTIFICATION is entirely God’s part. The Lord Jesus Christ baptises with the Holy Ghost and with fire when the consecration is complete. The Holy Ghost comes in and fills the vacuum created by the destruction of inbred sin from the human heart.
- WALKING IN THE LIGHT – 1John 1:7, Hebrews 10:38, Jude 24
Implicit obedience to all the known will of God. This ensures constant victory and a heavenly influence. At no point in the Christian life, from the new birth right on, is it impossible to fall again into sin, but certainly it is not necessary.
- HEAVEN AND HELL – Matthew 25:34, Matthew 25:41-46,
2Thessalonians 1:8-9
HEAVEN is the place of eternal blessedness for all who perseveringly walk in the Light after being born again of the Spirit of God. Holiness of heart is the Bible fitness for Heaven
HELL is the eternal abode of the devil, the beast and the false prophet and all fallen spirits and the place of everlasting punishment for every soul which rejects or neglects the salvation provided through Jesus Christ. All heathen will be judged according to their light. There is only one Heaven for the blessed and one Hell for the unsaved, but there are degrees of blessedness in Heaven and degrees of wrath in Hell.
- THE HOLY SCRIPTURES INFALLIBLE – 2Timothy 3:16
The Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the inspired and infallible word of God.
- PRE-MILLENNIAL ADVENT OF OUR LORD – 1Thessalonians 4:14-17,
Titus 11:13-14
The pre-millennial advent in glory of our Lord Jesus Christ which is the blessed hope set before His Church.
