Two views of All Hallows Church, Lombard Street

All Hallows was a church in the square mile of the city of London. First mentioned in 1054 it was finally given a bell tower in 1544. It was badly damaged in the great fire of London in 1666 and rebuilt by Christopher Wren. Age finally caught up with it in 1938 when it was found to be unsafe and demolished. As can be seen in the lower photograph it was hemmed in on all sides by larger buildings and was often known as the hidden church.
